Day 89: Gospeline

It seems his kids are Gospeline, immersed
In public sacraments and posted online
As status updates -- jpegs, captioned tersely,
Tagged and released.  Click the link:  girl number one
Loves Jesus, girl two also, also three;
He praises them.  I remember:  we were kids,
We ran together, played our games; he
Tried to let me win.  Now we're video
And images apart, and I don't know
Their names, just their holy predilections
Filtered through their dad.  Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord of Hosts, who gives to us this
Daily feed, anointing us with status
And branding us: old friends and fragments.

Very interesting and intriguing, a tribute to the modern gospel so beautifully, from the curious form sans traditional end-rhyming, to the excellent imagery, to the very religious message almost blasphemously dancing saucily throughout.

Fascinating and eerie with lovely images, all too common to both childhood and today. I love the nostalgic tone mingled with regret and slight confusion.
