Day 174: Stickers

The downtown looks a little moldy when
It rains -- adobe coatings splitting like
Old leather. Brand-new halls dissolve again
While one-way streets direct the crowd, alike
And round-about, below. Fresh water browns
The sand-wall, painting fat cocoons 'til I
Look up and see the stains. The asphalt sounds
Like sinks, and in the turn-lane I apply
The blinkers, brake, and wait. My traffic light
Is out of sync, and marshals cars across
My path -- a couple hybrids, trucks, a white
Sedan with bumper stickers at a loss
To grok gestalts -- they're flaking, peeling
Away from dents and hiding what they're feeling.
