Day 79: Pleasing books

He states, please send me pleasing books, the kind
that test the intellect and, testy, I
reply, "It's given that to give, thereby
to teach, implies a teacher ill-inclined
to mentorship; a mentor loans the mind
but briefly. Self-reliance means: rely
on nothing written; write and question why;
define all definitions well.  You'll find
all knowledge fractures. What is it to know,
if wisdom is ambiguous to the wise,
the sensible misgive their senses - eyes
and ears and touch; if touching scenes beguile
man's thinking? Think more deeply.  Don't forgo
the books, nor bookend dogmas still in style."

Well, at least that's out of my system.

Beautiful.

Er, uh, I know I said....but, what on earth makes this acceptable for a blog called "...Sonnets"?????

Happily it beautifully expresses the instructor's frustration dealing with the almost lazy student, who needs to be taught that learning is not the teacher's responsibility, but the student's more or less.

Wonderful imagery and interesting bit of discussion. Delightful argument, intelligibly rendered so intellectually.

But I beg to differ with the main assessment of what exactly this is.
